BOYD, Texas (AP) — Three black bear cubs have a new home in Texas for frolicking, feeding and finding their way without their mother.
The bears Wednesday settled in at the International Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Boyd, one day after being flown to nearby Alliance Airport in Fort Worth.
Sanctuary spokesman Louis Dorfman told WFAA-TV that the refuge was contacted by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department about taking the bears.
Dorfman says the bears "have trees to climb, thickets to lie in, meadows to play in and then they have people to bring them food."
Dorfman says the cubs stayed by their mother's body after she was shot by a hunter, who contacted authorities.
Wyoming GFD did not immediately return messages Wednesday from The Associated Press with details.
