Sept. 22, 2005 - For years, the name Priefert has been synonymous with ranch equipment ... head gates, working chutes, etc. Recently, the company, established in the early 1960s, entered a new pasture by going inside the home; not with “working equipment” but more along the lines of “resting equipment” for the rancher. The first item available from the new Priefert Ranch Collection is a “one of a kind style” bed frame, which offers the homemaker the chance to personalize to their style. The frame can be customized with their own designs, including their brand, David Fillebrown, new accounts manager, stated. Constructed of sturdy steel, the frame comes in five powder-coated colors: gunmetal gray, forest green, barn red, saddle brown, white, and rustic bronze. The company kept in mind the various consumer needs, so the frame is in four standard sizes: twin, full, queen, and king. Each are made from sturdy steel, which gives them some heft. For example, the queen size frame weighs 239 pounds. Pricing for the beds, which take approximately three weeks for delivery, will vary according to what the individual would like on their frame. The bed frames can be viewed at Prieferts.com or Stitchin Heaven in Tyler has one on display. Why did one of the leading ranch equipment manufacturers decide to start building bed frames? Experimentation of a dad’s love to build something for his son. We bought a computerized laser cutting machine. Ed (Eddie Priefert) began to experiment with the idea for his sons bed. Others saw what he had done and told him, We could sell those and thats how it happened, Fillebrown said. The Priefert Ranch Collection division is still in its infancy, and new ideas are being developed. Those ideas will also “offer opportunity for uniqueness and one-of-a-kind furniture.” The ranch collection will be something new for the crew at Priefert’s. Traditionally a mass-production shop, the collection will take them to an individual custom-made shop, while they are still busy manufacturing “Priefert Blue” ranch equipment.
