19 horses in Russian show stranded in Dallas area

DALLAS (AP) — Some horses that star in a Russian equestrian circus have been stranded in the Dallas area after the show didn't go on.

A note Wednesday on the company's Web site says the Dallas Artania show has been canceled.

Lisa Blackmon, who owns Black Star Sport Horses in Rockwall, offered to help with the 19 horses, for a couple of weeks, until Artania can regroup.

The Dallas Morning News reports the 19 horses were loaded into trailers and transported to the Black Star stables. Blackmon says the horses seem to be "healthy, playful," and do not appear to be stressed after Monday's move.

Promoter Jeff Kurtz says Artania for now will stay in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
