Say Cheese! Frerichs' product selected for Super Bowl gift pack

February 5, 2004 -- While it pays to have a good product, it can't hurt to have a distributor who suggests taking it to the Super Bowl.

This is what happened in December to the Texas Jersey Specialty Cheeses, owned by Ralph and Faith Frerichs of The Texas Jersey Barnyard in La Grange.

After a competition with other producers, over 400 pounds of the Texas Jalapeno Cheddar was chosen by the Executive Chef at Houston's Reliant Center to be included in gift packages for box seat holders and others viewing Super Bowl XXXVIII on Feb. 1.

A big variety of speciality cheeses are available at Jersey Barnyard as well as a number of retail stores in Texas, and visitors may also visit the dairy.
