The debate about what H2A should encompass is still on. It seems lawmakers can't agree on how to implement the measure. (Check out the July 9 edition of the paper for a story about the topic). According to Farm Bureau, one lawmaker wants to set up stipulations that would eventually allow workers permanent green cards. Critics say it would open the door for eventual citizenship for millions. One thing is clear, the government needs to make and implement a decision soon. Producers relying on immigrant labor are currently lost in red tape.
