I'm ready to buy some fresh fruit! We get calls all the time asking where people can find local orchards. There's great places scattered all across the state, but some of them are hard to find. If you know of any orchards or fruit stands, please share them with the forum. I know I would definitely like to hear about them, and I am sure others out there would too!

I miss Pittsburg peaches. They were so delicious. Wish there were growers around here.

I'm giving up on tomatoes. Can't grow them at home and can't find any good ones here. Anyone got a lead on LOCALLY grown ones?

A great source for pick-your-own farms is Local Harvest (www.localharvest.org) or www.pickyourown.org. Depending on your area, there are a lot of great farms open, just always call in advance to check their hours and what is in season.

For those interested in knowing what is currently in season, visit GOTEXAN.com for a list of local vendors, special events and helpful information.

I got some pretty good tomatoes at the produce stand in Emory on Saturday. The one right acress Hwy 69 from Potts Feed Store. Agreed, it's hard to find really good ones. But I peeled these and salted them and they were really good. They also gave me a plum to nibble on while I looked around.
