Country
World is a weekly, regional agricultural newspaper
attractive to ag producers and rural residents. The newspaper
covers approximately 155 Texas counties from the Red River
to the Gulf of Mexico, and reaches readers throughout
Texas and in neighboring states as well.
Country World, a product of Echo Publishing Company
in Sulphur Springs, Texas, published its first issue on Nov.
5, 1981. Then, the newspaper covered about 12 counties
in Northeast Texas. Today, the East Texas edition of Country
World alone reaches 59 counties.
Consisting of regional, state, national, and international
ag-related news, plus feature pages such as a Lifestyles,
Gardening, The Outdoors, and Calendar Events, the newspaper
caters to a wide range of readers. Weekly features also include
Dairyline -- written by nationally-known dairy news broadcaster
Lee Mielke; Reavis Reviews -- a humorous outdoors-angled
column, written by Reavis Wortham, that's loved by all readers;
plus Country Cookin' and Cook of the Week -- recipes galore
for those who like to cook.
One special feature about Country World is the Country
Classifieds and Country Markets, which make up the newspaper's
B section. The classifieds are a great source for connecting
buyers and sellers of ag-related goods and services. The
markets, livestock to grain futures, provide tremendous information
useful to ag producers.
In February 1995, Country World branched out with Country
World Central Texas. This sister-publication, which
now covers 57 counties in Central Texas, has an office
in Hewitt,
just southwest of Waco. While this edition shares the large
classifieds/markets B section, their main section focuses
on ag and rural issues important to readers in that region.
In June 1998, Country World again branched out with
another edition. Country World South Central Texas
opened in LaGrange, focusing on 44 counties in that
region. Again, this sister-publication shares the classifieds/market
B section and the main section focuses on South Central
Texas'
ag-related and rural issues.
