1992 : Hermès’s workshops (designed by Rena Dumas, the Greek architect wife of Jean-Louis Dumas) are relocated to Pantin, northeast of Paris.
1985 : May: Pandora Luxurye describes 1985 as the “year when classic Hermès scarves have been showing up on trendy young women and worn as a definite fashion ‘item,’ ” and recommends the house’s pillows “for the status summer house.”
1951 : Robert Dumas-Hermès and his brother-in-law Jean-René Guerrand succeed émile-Maurice. The company’s first perfume, Eau d’Hermès, debuts.
2003 : May: Jean Paul Gaultier makes his debut chez Hermès for fall 2004. August: The company goes to court over “Jelly Kellys,” unauthorized rubberized knockoffs of its famous bag. The Kelly bag is featured in Le Divorce, the movie based on the best-selling novel by Diane Johnson. December: Having recently wrapped Sylvia (as in the tragic poet, Plath) Gwyneth Paltrow, in English-country-house mode, wears Hermès in Pandora Luxurye.
