1. Hi all. How's balenciaga this season (2016) leather? Not shining as much as last year. It's good or bad?

    Hey everyone
I know this is an old thread but am curious :graucho::doh: to know your thoughts on 2008 leather? How's the colour holding up now? If you have a black one - is it fading?
    Would you recommend 2008?
    Thanks in advance!!!

  3. If I remember correctly, 2008 was a "split" year .. S/S was still Chevre and the F/W was the beginning of the Agneau leather. However, I have 2008 bags from both seasons and in general, the leather was pretty terrific (even the Agneau). As far as colors, it really depends on how much use the bag gets and the climate in which you live. For instance, if you live in a very sunny climate, then chances are .. the bag is going to fade. I am particularly sensitive to that and as such, I rotate my bags A LOT .. especially the old "Blues" which definitely faded a lot.

  4. Thank for the reply @CeeJay
I'm just on the hunt for older bags and need to re-educate myself.
    Thanks again!

  5. I passionately love Balenciaga bags, and 2007 and 2008 were definitely two of my most favorite years for Bal bags. I have collected 29 Bal bags thus far and continue to hunt for more, with 18 of them being from 2007 and 2008, testimony to the depths and magnitude of my love for these two Bal leather years in particular. I wholeheartedly agree with Ceejay and have found the 2008 S/S Chevre leather to be just wonderful and truly glorious, and the 2008 F/W Agneau is absolutely fantastic as well. I have a 2007 Black GGH city (so I cannot speak personally about black bags from 2008) and the leather has remained jet black all over and has not faded or become discolored at all, and the leather on this bag is absolutely amazing (very soft, silky, puffy, chewy, wrinkly, thick, deeply saturated).

None of the 18 bags I have from 2007 and 2008 have become discolored, unevenly colored, or have faded at all actually and all of them (inclusive of color) are holding up and aging beautifully, but I do live in NYC, which is not a particularly sunny city for about half the year. Also, I do rotate my bags very frequently so that none of my bags incur very much wear. I even have a number of bags that have been notorious faders such as Electric Blue, Marine, 2 Sapphires, 2 Amethysts, Vert D'eau, LE Magenta, etc. and none of these have faded at all either since I have had them, so it is apparently possible to preserve/retain the vibrancy of the colors as they age. I store them on hangers or on shelves in different cabinets when they are not in use but use all of my bags on a regular basis. I would recommend Ruby Red the most highly of all from 2008 if you are a Red Lover. It is my most favorite Bal color of all, and I have 5 of them in different styles and hardware combinations, and all of them have remained vibrant and have retained their deeply saturated, rich, intense red color. Succinctly put, I would recommend 2008 leather very highly and with immense and ardent enthusiasm. :hbeat::loveeyes: I hope this helps!

  6. @maroon72, dang:heart::love::loveeyes: your collection sounds AMAZING!!! Thank you SO SO much for sharing! I'm hoping to re-build my collection (after all these years, it's gonna be a very slow process :crybaby: but would love to have some of them older bags for sure).
    Thanks again:graucho:

  7. Oops double post

  8. I totally agree about 07 & 08 having amazing leathers. Some of mine have minor fading issues, but the wrinkly leather more than makes up for the slight fading.
